Super Eagles-B Soar Past Ghana To Secure CHAN 2025 Qualification.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles-B delivered a dominant performance in Uyo, defeating Ghana 3-1 in their CHAN 2025 qualifier to book their place in the tournament set for East Africa next February.
The match started with intensity, and it wasn’t long before Sodiq Ismail broke the deadlock in the 18th minute. Receiving a perfectly weighted long pass from Nduka Junior, Ismail surged forward and coolly slotted the ball into the net, giving Nigeria an early lead.
Moments later, Nduka Junior turned from provider to scorer. Pouncing on a defensive error by the Ghanaians, he doubled the advantage with a clinical finish in the 21st minute, leaving the visitors stunned.
The Super Eagles continued their relentless assault, and by the 24th minute, Saviour Isaac made it three. Capitalising on a misplaced pass from Ghanaian goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, Isaac skipped past his defender with ease and dispatched the ball into the back of the net.
Although the hosts appeared untouchable, Ghana managed to pull one back in the 73rd minute. Stephen Amankona’s thunderous strike provided a moment of brilliance for the visitors, but it wasn’t enough to shift the momentum.
Stand in head coach Daniel Ogunmodede, utilised his squad depth effectively, making multiple substitutions to maintain control. Key changes included the introduction of Stephen Manyo, Kazeem Ogunleye, and Emmanuel Ogbole, who brought fresh energy to the side. Late in the game, Rabiu Ali and Samuel Ayanrinde also featured, ensuring the Super Eagles held their composure until the final whistle.
With this victory, Nigeria secured their place in CHAN 2025, which will be hosted across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The team will now set their sights on preparing for the tournament, where they aim to showcase their dominance against Africa’s best.
This commanding performance serves as a statement of intent from the home based Super Eagles, who are determined to leave a lasting mark in next year’s competition.
