Governor Aiyedatiwa Approves Upgrade of Ondo State Sports Complex
In a significant move towards revitalizing infrastructure in Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved the upgrade of the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure. This development follows the ratification by the State Executive Council during a meeting presided over by the Governor at the Council Chamber of the Governor’s Office in Akure on Tuesday, as earlier reported by BSN Sports.
In addition to the sports complex upgrade, the Council approved three major projects: the construction of a new state judicial complex, the renovation of the Ondo State Sports Complex, and substantial improvements to the state’s road infrastructure.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sport Development, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, highlighted that the rehabilitation of the Ondo State Sports Complex has been long overdue. The upgrade will include significant enhancements to the main bowl and football pitch, the indoor sports hall, and the swimming pool. These improvements aim to meet international standards, making the stadium a premier venue capable of hosting major events, including home matches for Sunshine Stars and Sunshine Queens.
“The new projects reflect the government’s dedication to comprehensive development, aiming to foster overall growth and prosperity in the State,” Yusuf-Ogunleye stated.
This initiative underscores Governor Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to improving the state’s infrastructure and promoting sports development, bringing much-needed modernization to the Ondo State Sports Complex.
