The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has lauded the efforts of Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu, for the successful implementation of this year’s Ramadan feeding program.
Addressing attendees at the palace’s pavilion in Sokoto, the Sultan expressed his satisfaction with the extensive reach of the state-wide initiative, urging Governor Aliyu to maintain and enhance this noble gesture.
Noting the significance of the program, the Sultan emphasized the importance of supporting initiatives aimed at providing sustenance to the less privileged during the holy month of Ramadan. He also commended the governor for his financial assistance to the needy, particularly Imams and Quranic teachers across the state.
The Sultan applauded Governor Aliyu for his decision to grant civil servants and pensioners a half salary as a Ramadan gift, describing it as unprecedented. He urged individuals with the means to continue assisting the less fortunate, emphasizing the spiritual rewards of such benevolent acts.
The Sultan also spoke about the important role of education in societal development. He called on parents and guardians to prioritize the education of their children by enrolling them in both Islamic and Western schools.
The event, was graced by dignitaries including Senator Aliyu Wamakko and Minister of State for Water Resources and Sanitation, Muhammad Goronyo, emphasized the importance of unity and support for the state’s leadership. The Sultan concluded by urging citizens to pray for the success of the nation’s leadership.
