Sports Minister to Attend Maiden Yucateco Boxing Award Ceremony in Lagos
The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, is set to be the Chief Host at the inaugural Sports Ministry Yucateco Boxing Award in Lagos on Friday, April 19th as reported by BSNSports.
This prestigious event will be attended by top dignitaries from the Federal Ministry of Sports, joining to honor Nigeria’s boxing legends at the award ceremony.
The Sports Ministry stated that this event aligns with the Minister’s vision of recognizing and appreciating athletes for their contributions to sports.
The Chairman of the Day will be the Majority Leader of the 10th House of Representatives, Professor Julius Ihonvbere.
The awardees for this year’s event include notable figures such as President of the Nigeria Boxing Federation Lt. Gen. Kenneth Minimah (Rtd), the late Hogan Bassy (the first Nigerian to win a world title), former national middleweight champion Isaac Ikhouria, Commonwealth Games gold medalists Sabo Mohammed and Nigeria’s current National boxing coach Anthony Konyegwachie.
Other honorees include 2011 All African Games bronze medalist Lawal Lukmon Olaiwola, Muyili Ojo, Nigerian boxing umpire with the most appearances at international games, women’s boxing pioneer Edith Agu Ogoke, former National boxing coach Joseph Mensah, Ogun state boxing pioneer Ajani Aremu, boxing umpire Abdullahi Masha, coach Samson Aransiola, and esteemed boxing umpire Adesanya Olusegun Ayodele, among others.
The inaugural Yucateco Sports Ministry Boxing Award ceremony is scheduled to commence at 6pm this Friday at JEVINIK Place, 21 Isaac John Street Ikeja GRA Lagos.
