Senate President Akpabio Assures Tinubu Of Second Term Victory.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term is assured, despite opposition efforts to unseat him in the 2027 elections.
Speaking at a special Iftar/Lent dinner organised by the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) in Abuja, Akpabio reassured party members that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would not only retain the presidency but also secure more elective seats nationwide.
Strengthening Party Unity
The event, led by PGF Chairman Governor Hope Uzodinma, brought together governors, National Assembly members, ministers, and top government officials to foster unity and collaboration within the ruling party. Akpabio called on APC stakeholders to remain united and committed to securing electoral victory in 2027.
“Can we say amen! We will offer prayers for our party, that yes, indeed, victory shall be ours in 2027. And we will also pray for Mr President that his second term is assured,” he declared, urging party members to support Tinubu’s leadership.
Uzodinma echoed similar sentiments, stressing the need for party members to work collectively towards strengthening governance and ensuring electoral success. He likened governance to a product that must be effectively marketed, stating, “The success of the government is our collective success. The failure of the government is our collective failure.”
Economic Progress Under Tinubu
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Chief Wale Edun, highlighted key economic achievements under President Tinubu, noting improvements in inflation rates, food prices, energy costs, and exchange rate stability.
“We are all living it. Inflation is down, food prices are coming down, energy prices are coming down, and the exchange rate is stable,” Edun stated, adding that the administration remains committed to supporting vulnerable Nigerians.
High-Profile Attendance
The event was attended by several prominent figures, including National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu, Governors Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Monday Okpebholo, and Francis Nwifuru, as well as former Governor Yahaya Bello and ex-SGF Boss Mustapha. Key National Assembly leaders and APC party executives were also present.
With growing optimism within the APC, party leaders reaffirmed their commitment to governance and national development, setting the stage for an intense political contest in 2027.
