The Nigerian Senate has officially confirmed Olayemi Cardoso as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), along with Emem Usoro, Muhammad Abdullahi, Philip Ikeazor, and Bala Bello as Deputy Governors.
The rigorous screening process commenced today, initiated by a motion presented by the Senate’s Majority Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu had previously granted his approval for the nomination of Olayemi Cardoso as the new CBN Governor, pending the Senate’s confirmation.
In anticipation of this confirmation, Cardoso assumed the role of CBN Governor in an acting capacity just last week.
This development marks a pivotal moment in the leadership of the country’s central bank and its pivotal role in Nigeria’s financial and economic landscape.
