Security Forces Repel Bandit Attack On Zamfara Town.
Troops of Operation FANSAR YANMA, in collaboration with local vigilantes, have successfully repelled a bandit attack on Mada town in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State, neutralising four of the assailants.
The attack, which took place at approximately 10 p.m. on Friday, was the latest in a series of retaliatory strikes by bandits following the elimination of a notorious kingpin in the area.
Swift Response by Security Forces
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who reported the incident on X, troops acted on intelligence and engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to retreat into the forest with gunshot wounds.
“The bandits stormed the town in an attempt to unleash terror, but the security forces and vigilantes responded effectively. We neutralised four of them, while others escaped with injuries,” a security source confirmed.
During the confrontation, a resident, Naziru Bakanike Mada, sustained a gunshot wound on his shoulder and was promptly taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
Series of Retaliatory Attacks
Friday’s assault was the fourth attempt by bandits to overrun Mada since the killing of their leader, Alhaji Sani Dan Garin Bawo, in an earlier military operation.
Since 11 March, fighters loyal to the neutralised kingpin, led by bandit commander Dogo Hamza, have launched multiple revenge attacks on the town. However, security forces have consistently repelled their advances, inflicting heavy casualties on them.
A military official, speaking on the continued efforts to secure the town, remarked:
“Mada is their burial ground. Let them keep coming and trying their luck, and we shall continue sending them to their maker.”
Authorities have assured residents that security operations will remain in place to prevent further attacks and restore lasting peace to the region.
