Cote d’Ivoire forward Sebastian Haller says the Elephants want to avenge their defeat to Nigeria in the group stage of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Sebastian Haller the hero of the Ivorian team in their last encounter against DR Congo in the semi final has said the host nation wants revenge against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The hosts will battle the Super Eagles for the ultimate prize at the Alassanne Ouattara Stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan, on Sunday by 9pm Nigerian time.
Emerse Fae’s side lost 1-0 to the Super Eagles in the group stage earlier in the competition.
However, now that they are in the final, the Borussia Dortmund striker has said the Elephants want a revenge and the title this time around.
“We are playing the final against Nigeria. It is a great nation. It is heavy. They beat us in the group stage,” Haller told Bein SPORTS.
“But we are already motivated to go and lift the trophy on Sunday in this stadium in front of the Ivorian people. We have revenge to take on Nigeria.” he said.
The AFCON grand finale will kick-off by 9pm Nigerian time on Sunday.
