Russian Stealth Drone Destroyed In Possible Friendly Fire Incident In Eastern Ukraine.
In a remarkable event near the eastern Ukrainian city of Kostyantynivka, residents witnessed what is believed to be the destruction of Russia’s latest stealth combat drone, the S-70 Okhotnik (Hunter). This heavy unmanned aerial vehicle, designed to be nearly invisible to radar and comparable in size to a fighter jet, was shot down in a dramatic aerial confrontation.
Eyewitnesses observed two white vapour trails crossing the sky, a usual precursor to an impending Russian airstrike. However, what followed was unprecedented. The lower vapour trail split, with an object accelerating toward the second trail. Moments later, a bright flash illuminated the sky, signalling the destruction of the drone.
Speculation quickly arose as to whether this was a case of Russian friendly fire or if a Ukrainian jet was responsible for the downing. Debris from the crash confirmed the destruction of the S-70 Okhotnik, marking a significant moment in the conflict. It is believed the drone was pursued by a Russian Su-57 jet, suggesting possible friendly fire just 20km from the front line.
The S-70 is Russia’s latest unmanned weapon, featuring advanced stealth technology and designed to operate without a cockpit. Despite its state-of-the-art capabilities, the drone’s apparent malfunction led to its downfall in this extraordinary encounter.
This incident highlights the growing complexity of aerial warfare in the region, where advanced military technology is being tested in real-time combat situations.
