Rodri Eyes Return To Action Before End Of The Season.
Manchester City midfielder Rodri remains optimistic about making a return to the pitch before the conclusion of the season, despite suffering a significant knee injury earlier in the campaign.
The Spanish international ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during City’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal in September. Manager Pep Guardiola initially stated that the injury would likely rule Rodri out for the entirety of the season.
However, speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Rodri shared his determination to defy expectations. “My target is to come back this season. I don’t give up on this season, [but] I don’t want to make any mistakes. My target is six or seven months,” he explained.
Rodri, 27, acknowledged the challenges of his recovery but revealed encouraging progress. “I am doing much better than I thought. I am enjoying the rest, if it’s possible to say it that way. The first month and a half was bad in terms of pain—I couldn’t walk—but now it is easier,” he added.
City’s form has faltered in Rodri’s absence, with the team enduring a six-game winless streak across all competitions. His return would undoubtedly provide a much-needed boost as they navigate the latter stages of the season.
The Premier League season concludes on 25 May, with the FA Cup final scheduled for 17 May. Beyond the domestic campaign, Manchester City are set to participate in the expanded 32-team Club World Cup in the United States, running from 15 June to 13 July.
Rodri’s positive outlook and commitment to his rehabilitation offer hope not only for City fans but also for the team’s aspirations in what remains a demanding and decisive stretch of fixtures.
