The National Association of Resident Doctors might see the need to halt strike action as the Federal Government approves twenty five thousand naira peculiar allowance for medical and dental doctors in hospitals, medical and clinics in the Federation public service only.
GOVIMA earlier reported about the medical association releasing a communique. In a communique released at the conclusion of the Extra-Ordinary National Executive Council meeting of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), the medical doctors made it clear that they cannot assure industrial harmony in the health sector across the country once the extended ultimatum expires on July 19th, 2023, if their demands are not met.
They emphasised the seriousness of their position and the potential for unrest within the health sector unless the government fulfils their requirements.
Resolving the pending strike, a circular was released to solve the strike. The Chairman and chief executive officer of National Salary, Ekpo Nta disclosed this in a statement.
The circular according to Ekpo was issued on some of the demands of the doctors on strike, including the Circular on Review of CONMESS which indicates twenty five percent for CONMESS one to six ( 1-6) and thirty five percent for CONMESS seven ( 7).
A new circular is under consideration for the review of CONHESS, proposing a twenty-five percent (25%) increase for CONMESS grades one to fourteen (1-14) and a thirty-five percent (35%) increase for CONHESS grade fifteen (15).
Also included is the circular is Hazard Allowance for Doctors working outside hospitals.
