Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has relieved the General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Bolaji Oreagba, of his duties. In his place, the governor has appointed Bakare-Oki Olalekan as the acting general manager of LASTMA, effective immediately.
The decision to dismiss Oreagba was attributed to the pursuit of better performance, the eradication of staff misdemeanors, and the continuous efficient and effective management of traffic on Lagos roads, according to Olawale Musa, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation.
Bakare-Oki, the newly appointed acting general manager, joined the Lagos State Public Service on April 25, 2000, and has risen through the ranks to the position of Deputy Director, Logistics and Engineering Department of LASTMA. He holds a master’s degree in Transportation Planning and Management from the University of Lagos and has participated in various capacity-building programs on inter-modal traffic management systems both locally and internationally.
The Permanent Secretary congratulated Bakare-Oki on his new role and urged him to justify Governor Sanwo-Olu’s confidence by leveraging his wealth of experience to elevate the agency. Musa also expressed Governor Sanwo-Olu’s appreciation to the outgoing General Manager, Bolaji Oreagba, for his commitment, dedication, and meritorious service to the state.
