Ooni of Ife’s ex-wife, Prophetess Naomi Silekunola Ogunswusi, also known as Queen Naomi, will face prosecution for organizing a children’s funfair that turned tragic, resulting in the loss of many young lives.
The event was held at the Islamic High School in Bashorun, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring justice is served, stating that “even if nobody is held accountable elsewhere, in Oyo State, the rule of law will prevail”. The governor emphasized that Queen Naomi and other organizers will face trial, despite concerns raised about similar incidents in other states where no one was prosecuted.
The governor’s decision to prosecute has sparked mixed reactions, with some questioning the move and others supporting it. Some have even suggested that the prosecution is an act of revenge against the ex-queen.
