In a significant move to boost U.S. exports from African creative industries, Prosper Africa and ANKA have officially unveiled the ANKA Growth Club, a transformative nine-month virtual accelerator program. This initiative is designed to elevate African exports in sectors such as fashion, beauty, textiles, art, and home goods, targets a stronger market presence in the United States.

Facilitated through the Prosper Africa Buyer-Supplier Network, this partnership aims to connect African brands with U.S. buyers, fostering increased two-way trade and investment in the creative industries.

High-growth companies in Africa’s creative sector often encounter obstacles in international exporting, including limited market access, technical knowledge gaps, and restricted working capital.

The ANKA Growth Club is set to empower over 40 African brands by providing them with vital market access, industry networking, and mentorship opportunities. This strategic approach seeks to not only boost exports but also establish a resilient foothold in the competitive U.S. market.

Highlighting the global recognition and growing demand for Africa’s creative industries, Prosper Africa’s market insights report, titled “Investment and Partnership Opportunities in Africa’s Creative Industries,” served as a catalyst for this transformative venture.

Lisa Walker, Deputy Coordinator at Prosper Africa, emphasized the vast potential of Africa’s creative industries in driving growth and creating economic opportunities on both sides of the Atlantic. The ANKA Growth Club, she explained, would equip dynamic African entrepreneurs with the essential skills, tools, and market access to achieve scalability.

A call has been extended to African entrepreneurs in the creative sector to apply for the ANKA Growth Club. Accepted participants will undergo a comprehensive curriculum covering key aspects of exporting, branding, financial management, and more, guided by industry leaders.

Moulaye Tabouré, CEO, and Co-Founder of ANKA, stated that the ANKA Growth Club signifies a significant step forward in facilitating SMEs’ access to global markets. He emphasized the immense opportunity the U.S. market presents for African entrepreneurs, expressing confidence that the Growth Club would not only provide support but also foster opportunities, knowledge, and connections to drive economic growth and innovation.

African creative sector brands interested in joining the ANKA Growth Club have until November 22, 2023, to apply. Further information and the application form can be accessed on the ANKA website.
