President Bola Tinubu has written to the House of Representatives to seek the confirmation of the Chairman and Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, made this known in a letter dated August 30 and sent to the Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, which was read during plenary on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, in which he presided.
On the 29th of August, the President endorsed Chiedu Ebie for the position of NDDC board chairman alongside 16 other people for the commission’s board.
According to the letter, President Tinubu said the ratification was in compliance with section 2(2) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (Establishment etc.) Act.
The President urged the House for an expeditious consideration of the nominees.
The letter read, “In compliance with the provisions of section 2(2) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (Establishment etc.) Act, I am pleased to present the under-listed seventeen nominees for the consideration of the House of Representatives for the positions of Chairman and members of the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission.”
The names for confirmation are as follows: “Mr Chiedu Ebie, Chairman, Delta State, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Bayelsa, Mr. Boma lyaye, the Executive Director, Finance and Admin, Rivers, Mr.Victor Antai, Executive Director Projects, Akwa-Ibom, and Otito Atikase Executive Director, Corporate Services, Ondo.
Others are “Mr.Kyrian Uchegbu, State Representative Imo, Victor Akinjo, State Representative Ondo, Dimgba Eruba, State Representative Abia, Orok Otu Duke, State Representative Cross River, Nick Wende, Zonal Representative North Central, Namdas Abdulrazak, Zonal Representative North East, and Dr.Ibrahim Abdullahi Gobir, Zonal Representative North West.
