On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu returned to Abuja following his participation in the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference held in Dubai, UAE.
During the conference, President Tinubu engaged in bilateral discussions with leaders, including King Charles of England and the President of the UAE, fostering collaborations with various countries and multilateral partners.
President Tinubu witnessed the signing of an accelerated performance agreement between Nigeria and Germany aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s electricity supply.
Additionally, He hosted a high-level meeting with stakeholders and investors, focusing on the Nigeria Carbon Market and the Electric Buses Rollout Programme, conducted on the sidelines of the COP28 climate summit.
The President’s departure for the summit on November 29, 2023, had sparked criticism regarding the reported 1,411 Nigerian registered delegates, a figure contested by critics as bloated. In response, the government clarified that it funded only 422 individuals for the summit.
President Tinubu’s engagement at the UN Climate Change Conference underscores Nigeria’s commitment to global climate action and its efforts to forge partnerships for sustainable development initiatives, particularly in the areas of electricity supply and environmental conservation.
