President Bola Tinubu has issued instructions to recall all of Nigeria’s career and non-career ambassadors, as confirmed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar.
This move includes the recall of the Nigerian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Sarafa Ishola. While the reason for this recall has not been disclosed, Ambassador Tuggar emphasised that ambassadors serve at the president’s discretion and can be sent to or recalled from any country as per the president’s prerogative.
It’s worth noting that the current ambassadors, including Ambassador Ishola, were appointed during the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ambassador Ishola’s recall follows the expiration of his tenure. Prior to his diplomatic role, he served as the Minister for Mines and Steel Development under the late former President Musa Yar’Adua.
