In a significant move towards enhancing youth engagement and development, President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of a mandated secretariat for youth affairs in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The announcement was made by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike during an interactive session with stakeholders in the Bwari area council on Monday.
During the engagement, Minister Wike also called on residents to cancel the planned nationwide protest scheduled for August 1 and 10. He emphasised the government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the populace through dialogue and proactive measures.
Similar interactive sessions were held with residents of Gwagwalada, Kuje, Kwali, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), and Abaji, where Wike urged the youth not to participate in the #EndBadGovernance protest.
Highlighting President Tinubu’s dedication to Nigerian youths, Wike stated, “On Saturday, I told the people of AMAC, when they requested the establishment of the youth secretariat, that I knew that when I met Mr. President, he would approve it.
Yesterday, while in Kwali, I repeated what I said. I want to bring you good news. I saw the president last night, and he has approved the establishment of a secretariat for youth affairs.”
