President Tinubu Appoints Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi As New Acting Controller-General Of Nigerian Correctional Service.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the appointment of Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi as the Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS). The appointment comes as the tenure of the current Controller-General, Haliru Nababa, concludes.
Haliru Nababa, who assumed office on 18 February 2021, was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari. His successor, Nwakuche Ndidi, will officially take over the role from 15 December 2024.
Confirming the development, the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Board, Ja’afaru Ahmed, praised the appointment, noting Ndidi’s extensive qualifications and contributions.
Ndidi, born on 26 November 1966 in Oguta, Imo State, brings a wealth of experience to the role. He previously served as the Deputy Controller-General in charge of the Training and Staff Development Directorate. He is a fellow of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies and holds the national honour of Member of the Federal Republic.
President Tinubu expressed confidence in Ndidi’s ability to lead the service effectively, urging him to apply his expertise in his new position.
This marks another significant step in the administration’s efforts to strengthen leadership within key national institutions.
