President Bola Tinubu through the Special Adviser of Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale issued a press release on January 12, 2024 On the appointment of the Governing Council and Executive Director of the Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund (MDGIF).
This fund is set to operate within the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), signaling a strategic effort to fortify the nation’s gas infrastructure.
The newly appointed MDGIF Governing Council is composed of notable figures, including the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas) as the Chairman and Mr. Oluwole Adama as the Executive Director.
Other key members include Mr. Joseph Tolorunshe as the Governing Council Secretary, Engr. Farouk Ahmed as the NMDPRA Chief Executive, and representatives from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Ministry of Finance. The Council also features independent members strategically chosen from the North-East, South-South, and South-West regions.
President Tinubu has set a clear mandate for the appointees, urging them to uphold the highest standards of transparency, discipline, and patriotism. This aligns with the administration’s overarching goal of positioning the gas sector as a driving force for comprehensive economic growth in Nigeria.
