President Bola Tinubu is set to inaugurate the African Counter-Terrorism Summit in Abuja on Monday, April 22, according to a statement released by Ajuri Ngelale, the special adviser to the President on media and publicity.
In collaboration with the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), Nigeria will host the high-level summit from April 22 to 23.
The summit, themed “Strengthening Regional Cooperation and Institution Building to Address the Evolving Threat of Terrorism,” aims to bolster multilateral efforts against terrorism in Africa.
Key stakeholders including heads of state and government, senior officials, representatives of international organisations, and civil society members, will convene to assess the terrorism threat in Africa and strategize on effective responses.
The summit seeks to foster deeper regional collaboration, build institutional capacity, and facilitate the exchange of best practices and knowledge to combat terrorism on the continent.
Notable attendees include Ms. Amina Mohammed, UN Deputy Secretary-General, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, National Security Adviser (NSA), and Mr. Vladimir Voronkov, UNOCT Under-Secretary-General, who will deliver closing remarks.
The African Counter-Terrorism Summit provides a crucial platform for African nations to unite in confronting the evolving menace of terrorism, with a shared goal of promoting peace and stability across the continent.
