Kovacic Double Secures Manchester City Victory Over Fulham.
Manchester City returned to winning ways in the Premier League, with a 3-2 victory over Fulham, thanks to a brace from midfielder Mateo Kovacic. This win marks City’s first league triumph in three games, extending their unbeaten home run to 50 matches in all competitions – a feat achieved by only three other English top-flight teams.
City dominated the opening exchanges, but Fulham took a surprise lead when Raul Jimenez’s brilliant backheel cross found Andreas Pereira, who calmly slotted home from close range. Fulham’s Adama Traore had two major opportunities to extend the lead, but City goalkeeper Ederson came out on top in a one-on-one, and Traore later blazed over from inside the box.
Kovacic capitalised on Fulham’s missed chances, netting his first goal from a deflected strike after a half-cleared corner. The Croatian midfielder doubled his tally early in the second half with a cleanly hit shot from the edge of the area, putting City in control.
Despite City’s dominance, Fulham continued to create chances, with Traore once again testing Ederson after beating Kyle Walker for pace. Fulham pushed for an equaliser, but City’s Jeremy Doku put the game seemingly out of reach with a stunning goal from the left wing, curling the ball into the top corner.
Fulham refused to give up, and substitute Rodrigo Muniz found the back of the net late on, giving Marco Silva’s men a glimmer of hope. However, City’s defence held firm, ensuring they held on for the victory.
With this win, Manchester City remain a dominant force at home, unbeaten in 50 consecutive matches at the Etihad, joining an elite group of English clubs to achieve this milestone.
