Advantage Liverpool: but Manchester City Still remain the favourite for Premier League Title; former Newcastle Star Striker Alan Shearer Affirms
At the moment it is advantage Liverpool, and Arsenal are not going away, but, with nine games to go, I still see Manchester City as favourites for the Premier League title.
As the Premier League enters its final stretch, Liverpool holds the advantage, closely followed by persistent contenders Arsenal. However, with nine games remaining, Manchester City remains the frontrunner in my view.
This sentiment isn’t solely based on City’s current form. While Pep Guardiola’s squad boasts an impressive 23-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, their performances haven’t consistently reached their expected level, with some disappointing results, including a recent 0-0 draw against Arsenal.
City’s upcoming clash against Aston Villa presents an opportunity to reverse this trend. Guardiola’s team must secure a victory to avoid consecutive slip-ups and maintain their title bid.
City’s resilience is a key asset, having navigated similar challenges in the past. While their rivals may be in better recent form, City’s experience suggests they can bounce back from setbacks like the Arsenal draw.
Regarding Arsenal, their recent performance at the Etihad Stadium showcased significant improvement compared to past encounters. Their defensive solidity, bolstered by additions like Declan Rice, was evident, restricting City to minimal chances.
While the match wasn’t thrilling for neutrals, Arsenal’s ability to stifle City’s attack and create opportunities of their own demonstrates their progress under Mikel Arteta. This resilience and tactical acumen bode well for their title aspirations.
Despite a tough run-in, Arsenal’s newfound defensive prowess and ability to adapt tactics suggest they will remain competitive until the end of the season, adding further excitement to the title race.
