The Nigeria Police Force conducted a raid on the hideout of IPOB/ESN in the Akwuke community of Enugu South LGA.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the operatives encountered high resistance from the group but managed to subdue them due to superior firepower.
During the raid, two IPOB members were killed, and a significant cache of weapons was seized. This included an AK-47 rifle, a Submachine Gun (SMG), a stainless Pump Action Gun (PAG), along with ammunition and cartridges.
In another operation, the Jigawa State Command, along with local vigilantes, arrested two suspects linked to culpable homicide and robbery in the Dangoli Fulani Camp of Kiyawa LGA.
The seized items included AK-47 rifles, magazines, live ammunition, mobile phones, a motorcycle, cash, SIM cards, and a solar panel.
Investigations revealed that the seized AK-47 rifles were used in a robbery that resulted in the deaths of three individuals in Birni Kudu Town. The suspects confessed to their involvement in the crimes.
In a broader overview of recent crime-fighting efforts, the police reported the arrest of numerous suspects involved in armed robbery, kidnapping, murder, possession of prohibited firearms, rape, and cultism. They also recovered firearms, ammunition, stolen vehicles, and kidnapped victims across the country.
Furthermore, recent successful operations include the rescue of passengers from armed bandits along the Gusau-Funtua Road in Katsina State and the arrest of individuals involved in illegal arms manufacturing in Benue State.
Exhibits seized in the Benue operation included pistols under fabrication, an AK-47 rifle, live ammunition, welding gas cylinders, and other manufacturing materials.
