Police Neutralise Five Suspected Kidnappers In Delta.
The Delta State Police Command has reportedly neutralised five suspected kidnappers during a gun battle in Iyamuge, Otu-Jeremi, Warri, and Ughelli. The operation, carried out by the Special Assignment Team, resulted in the death of the suspects after they engaged officers in a firefight in the forest.
State Police spokesperson, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, explaining that the injured suspects were taken to hospital but later succumbed to their wounds. Several other gang members managed to escape.
In a related operation, police operatives, led by ASP Julius Robinson, arrested a notorious kidnap syndicate leader, Adamu Abubakar, also known as ‘Dogo.’ Acting on intelligence, officers tracked him down at DSC Roundabout in Warri.
Further investigations led to the arrest of two other suspects, Abubakar Mohammed, known as ‘Chede,’ and Mohammed Bellow, at Otovwodo Park in Ughelli North Local Government Area.
According to Edafe, preliminary findings indicate that the suspects were responsible for multiple kidnappings and armed robberies across Warri, Ughelli, Otu-Jeremi, and Iyamuge. Following their confessions, the police recovered a cache of weapons, including one AK-47 rifle, one pump-action gun, three locally made firearms, two magazines, 60 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, and 17 live cartridges from their hideout in Iyamugo forest.
The Delta State Police Command reiterated its commitment to tackling criminal activities and ensuring the safety of residents across the state.
