Police Arrest Three For Breaching Curfew In Osun.
The Osun State Police Command has arrested three individuals for violating the dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed on warring communities following ongoing boundary disputes.
The curfew, declared by Governor Ademola Adeleke, aims to curb violence between Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun communities, which have suffered significant loss of lives and property due to persistent clashes.
Confirming the arrests, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adeola Adeoye, assured residents that law enforcement agencies, in collaboration with sister security agencies, would ensure the strict enforcement of the curfew. He reiterated the commitment of security operatives to preventing further bloodshed and restoring order in the affected areas.
Meanwhile, the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised Governor Adeleke’s response to the crisis, describing his absence from the troubled communities as a failure of leadership. The party’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, lamented that five days after the violent clashes, the governor had yet to visit the affected areas to assess the damage or provide relief to displaced residents.
Olabisi further stated that the lack of on-the-spot assessment by the governor raised concerns about the administration’s commitment to the welfare and security of citizens. He urged the state government to take immediate steps to support victims and prevent further escalation of the conflict.
As security forces continue their operations, residents have been advised to adhere strictly to the curfew to avoid arrest and ensure peace returns to the region.
