Police Arrest Musician Portable For Alleged Threat And Defamation Of Fuji Star Saheed Osupa.
The Kwara State Police Command has arrested controversial musician Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, over alleged criminal defamation, threats to life, and character assassination against Fuji legend Akorede Babatunde Okunola, also known as Saheed Osupa.
Portable was apprehended by police operatives on Saturday evening at approximately 7:25 pm in Abeokuta, Ogun State, before being transferred to Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, for further investigation.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Kwara State Police Command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, who stated that the Command had taken lawful steps, in accordance with due process, to investigate the serious allegations made against the musician.
According to the police, prior to his arrest, Portable had allegedly issued threats to Osupa’s life, engaged in criminal defamation, used abusive and insulting language, and behaved in a manner likely to provoke a breach of public peace.
Ejire-Adeyemi disclosed that the police acted upon a petition filed by Saheed Osupa. “The petition was thoroughly reviewed, relevant pieces of evidence were examined, and a valid arrest warrant was secured from a Magistrate Court in Ilorin,” she said.
Upon Portable’s arrival in Ilorin, his statement was recorded in the presence of legal representatives from both parties. He remains in police custody, with plans underway to charge him to court promptly.
This marks Portable’s second brush with the law in 2025. In February, the “Zazu” crooner was arrested for allegedly assaulting government officials, a case in which he later claimed mental instability and was subsequently released.
The Kwara State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that all parties involved receive fair and lawful treatment.
