Police Arraign Biola Adams-Odutayo Over Death Of Software Engineer, Adetunji Opayele.
The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned Biola Adams-Odutayo, the driver accused of causing the death of Adetunji Opayele, popularly known as Teejay, in court.
In a statement issued today, the police confirmed that a thorough investigation had been conducted, leading to the defendant being charged on two counts related to the fatal accident.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, extended his condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased, acknowledging the tragic nature of the incident.
“The Lagos State Police Command wishes to inform the general public, both at home and abroad, that the defendant in this case, Abiola Odutayo, has been properly charged before a court of competent jurisdiction. For verification, a copy of the charge sheet is attached,” the statement read.
The police also clarified that their role in the case had concluded with the court arraignment, as statutory procedures dictate that law enforcement actions cease once a case is formally brought before the judiciary.
Opayele, a 32-year-old software engineer and co-founder of Bumpa, tragically lost his life in a road accident on 4 March along Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, Victoria Island, Lagos. Reports indicate that Biola Adams-Odutayo’s vehicle collided with the bike he was on, leading to his untimely demise.
The case now proceeds through the judicial process as Opayele’s family and friends seek justice.
