Peter Obi Vows To Sponsor Education Of Quadri Yusuf Alabi, After Unlawful Detention.
Mr Peter Obi has pledged his personal commitment to ensuring that Quadri Yusuf Alabi, a young boy recently freed from unlawful incarceration, receives the quality education he desires and deserves.
Speaking after meeting Quadri in person, Mr Obi described the encounter as deeply moving. He commended the resilience and courage shown by the young lad, whose only dream, despite the trauma he had endured, was to return to school and complete his education.

Obi revealed that Quadri’s unwavering desire to learn stood out clearly during their conversation. He described it as not just inspiring but also a powerful call to action — one that he promised to honour by supporting the boy’s academic aspirations.
He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the team of lawyers, led by human rights advocate Inibehe Effiong, who worked tirelessly to secure Quadri’s release. He extended special thanks to Mr Dele Farotimi and Ms Hassana Nurudeen, both of whom he said played a pivotal role through their constant advocacy and intervention.
While celebrating the boy’s release, Obi emphasised that justice would be incomplete without holding those responsible for the unlawful incarceration accountable. He maintained that in the pursuit of a fair and just Nigeria, impunity must not be tolerated.
“We must not stop at his release,” Obi asserted, noting that building a nation anchored on fairness, equity, and the rule of law required that acts of injustice be properly addressed.
He concluded by reiterating his belief in a brighter future for Nigeria — one where education, justice, freedom, and the protection of the less privileged form the bedrock of democracy. “A new Nigeria is possible,” he affirmed.
