IOC Orders Removal of Suspended Nigerian Boxer from Games Village.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has instructed the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) to remove boxer Cynthia Ogunsemilore from the Games Village at the Paris Olympics. Ogunsemilore, who was provisionally suspended for an out-of-competition doping violation involving the substance furosemide, will no longer be part of the event.
The directive comes as part of the IOC’s stringent anti-doping measures aimed at maintaining fair play and integrity in the competition. Team Nigeria management has confirmed its compliance with the IOC’s directive.
Ogunsemilore’s suspension has dealt a significant blow to the Nigerian contingent, highlighting the ongoing challenges in ensuring a clean sport. The NOC has assured that it will adhere to all regulations to uphold the standards set by the international governing bodies.
