Team Nigeria Boxers Arrive in France.
Team Nigeria boxers, Cynthia Ogunsemilore and Adams Olaore, have arrived in Paris, France, for the 2024 Olympic Games.
Olaore will compete in the men’s heavyweight (92kg) division, while Ogunsemilore will vie for honours in the women’s (60kg) category. Unfortunately, another Nigerian boxer, Dolapo Omole, was forced to withdraw from the games due to an injury sustained in training. Omole was set to compete in the 57kg division.
Olaore and Ogunsemilore are determined to end Nigeria’s 28-year medal drought in boxing. The last Nigerian to win a medal in the sport was Donkan Dokiwari, who claimed bronze in the super heavyweight category at the 1996 Olympic Games.
With their arrival in Paris, hopes are high that Ogunsemilore and Olaore can bring home medals and revive Nigeria’s boxing legacy on the Olympic stage.
