Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde Announces Cabinet Reshuffle To Boost Efficiency.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has undertaken a strategic cabinet reshuffle to enhance governance and streamline service delivery across key sectors. The announcement, detailed in a letter signed by the Chief of Staff, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, was made public on Monday, with the changes taking effect immediately.
In a move aimed at optimising the state’s administrative framework, several commissioners have been reassigned to new portfolios. The Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Seun Ashamu, will now oversee the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources. Meanwhile, Mr. Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, previously in charge of Environment and Natural Resources, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport.
The reshuffle also sees Professor Dahud Shangodoyin, formerly the Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, taking up the role of Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources. In the education and training sectors, Professor Solihu Adelabu, previously heading the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, will now lead the Ministry of Establishments and Training. Mr. Segun Olayiwola, the erstwhile Commissioner for Establishments and Training, has been appointed to steer the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
Governor Makinde, in his statement, urged the reassigned commissioners to approach their new roles with “utmost loyalty and commitment” to the people of Oyo State. The reshuffle is widely seen as a proactive step to align the state’s leadership with its developmental priorities, particularly in energy, infrastructure, education, and environmental management.
The reshuffle comes at a time when Oyo State is making significant strides in infrastructure development and economic growth under Governor Makinde’s leadership. Recent projects, including road rehabilitation and investments in renewable energy, have bolstered the state’s reputation as a hub of progressive governance in Nigeria.
As the newly reassigned commissioners settle into their roles, expectations are high that they will build on the state’s achievements and deliver on the governor’s vision of a prosperous and sustainable Oyo State. The government has assured citizens that the reshuffle will not disrupt ongoing projects, with all ministries expected to maintain momentum in their service delivery.
