Passionate voters at the polling units at Aladinma Ward 013, Customs Quarters Ward 016, Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State, have expressed displeasure and disappointment over the absence of INEC officials at the centre.
Victor Madu, one of them, voiced his disappointment that, despite INEC’s promises, elections had not begun at the centre.
During a visit to Ward 003, Afor Egbu, Owerri North, at 8:45 am, the voter turnout was impressive, but there was an absence of security operatives and INEC officials.
Our correspondents gathered that voters at the Emekuku ward 001 Owerri North Local Government were angry and dissatisfied since there were no INEC representatives and security operatives there.
Similarly, at Emekuku Ward 003, around 8:55 am, there was a high turnout of voters, but the absence of security on operatives and INEC officials was also witnessed.
Same with Aladinma Ward 013, and Customs Quarters Ward 016, there was a huge presence of voters, but the absence of INEC officials and security at 9:30 am.
At Afor Orogwe Ward 006 Owerri West LGA, 9:15 am, there was an impressive turnout of voters, the presence of security operatives, INEC officials yet to arrive.
Nkaramoche Ihiagwa, Ward 6 PU 014 with 750 valid voters, and Anya Kindred N karamoche Ihiagwa, with 346 valid registration with polling unit 015; there was no INEC official but police presence.
Unlike other areas visited, at Azuzii ward 005 poll and Umushioke Village, Booth 21 there was a high turnout of voters; security operatives and INEC officials were present.
Doreen Ekeada, another voter, lashed out at the absence of INEC representatives, appealing to authorities to intervene.
