Over 2 Million Candidates Register As JAMB Closes 2025 UTME Registration.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially closed registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), recording a total of 2,030,627 candidates.
This year’s registration figures have surpassed the 1,989,668 candidates who applied in 2024, marking an increase in the number of prospective university entrants. The registration process, which commenced on 3 February 2025, will see these candidates sit for the UTME scheduled for 25 April 2025.
Additionally, 200,115 candidates have registered for the optional mock UTME, set to take place on 5 April 2025, with 630 candidates also signed up for a trial mock examination on the same date. These figures exclude candidates registered to take the examination at foreign centres.
In its weekly bulletin released on Monday, JAMB announced that with the registration process now complete, preparations for the examination are in full swing. The Board also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the UTME by implementing new security measures to curb malpractice.
“This year, the Board has implemented several innovative measures to deter cheating and maintain the integrity of the examination process,” JAMB stated.
According to the Board, these measures have already resulted in multiple arrests of candidates attempting to use forged A-level results for admission. It further urged all candidates to comply with examination rules and regulations, warning against any form of malpractice.
With the growing number of candidates each year, JAMB continues to refine its processes to ensure a fair and credible examination system for Nigerian students seeking higher education.
