Nigeria Sensational player narrates Near-Death experience
Victor Osimhen has narrated his injury ordeal and said it was a tough period for his career and nobody understood what he was going through.
The forward who came back to become a lynchpin in the Napoli team had a maxillofacial surgery that led to his face having many screws as many facial bones had been fractured.
“That injury I had against Inter Milan was like a near-death injury. I am the only one that felt it, and I can only speak about how I felt because it was my face and body,” Osimhen told Wazobia FM per Goal.
Due to this injury, Osimhen was absent in the African Cup of Nation played in Cameroon, despite assuring fans he would play.
“When the scan came out, I fractured many bones, which they had to remove and fix inside again,” Osimhen continued.
“I have like 18 screws under my jaw. I went through a lot. A lot of sleepless nights. I could not sleep; I could not eat with the pain. But at the end of the day, I am a lion, and I know the kind of mentality I have.
“In my mind, I had already scheduled my return following the surgery.”
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles striker will most likely stay put at Napoli to win the Scudetto for them in the coming season and also he’s eager to play in the UEFA Champions League, as such he’s against a move to the Premier League at the moment.
La Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that the 23-year-old striker has opted to stay at Napoli, where he has a contract till 2025, because they will play Champions League after they finished third in Serie A last season.
Newcastle United tried to buy him in the winter and believed to be open to table a massive offer, but he has so far ignored the Premier League side because they won’t feature in Europe’s foremost club competition.
But Newcastle United are not ruling a future move for the Nigeria Forward.
Osimhen has also been linked with Arsenal, who is yet to meet the valuation of Napoli for the striker.
They will also not be playing in the Champions League.
