African Footballer of the Year and Napoli star Striker Victor Osimhen has confirmed that he’ll one day play in the Premier League.
“But for now I’ve other plans for my career”.
“When the time comes, everyone will know”, he told Sky.
The striker who recently signed an extension to his contract in Napoli to extend his stay at Naples to 2026 is believed to have a release clause between €120m and €130m.
And likewise more than doubled his salary to €10m (£8.7m) a season.
Napoli reportedly refused an offer of more than €200m for Osimhen from a team in Saudi Arabia in the close season.
Osimhen, who turns 25 recently, is currently with the Super Eagles of Nigeria, at the on going Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Coté De’Voire.
Napoli signed the Nigerian from Lille back in 2020 for a fee of around €75m and he had since established himself as one of the most exciting strikers in the world. He fired Napoli to the Serie A title last season, by scoring 26 goals which in turn made him the first African player to finish as the Italian league’s top goalscorer.
This season has been filled with ups and downs as he’s been battling with injuries among other things.
However he’s found the back of the net 7 times and assisted twice.
Napoli currently occupy 8th position on the table and will be hoping to have their prized asset firing in all cylinders for the second half of the season.
While it would be great to have Osimhen play in the premier league some day, for now, we have to wait to see as things unfold in this regard.
Undoubtedly, the Striker would be hoping to lay his hands on more silverware by helping Nigeria in the current AFCON campaign.
The Super Eagles will next be in action on Thursday against the host Nation Côte d’Ivoire and they must avoid defeat to keep the dream of winning the competition for the fourth time alive.
