A staff member of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) in Ondo State, Mr Omoniyi Eleyinmi, has been released following his abduction last Sunday. The university worker was taken by unknown gunmen from his residence along the Akungba-Supare Akoko road, sparking widespread concern among colleagues and the local community.
According to reports, Mr Eleyinmi, who works in the Faculty of Education, regained his freedom after an undisclosed ransom was paid to his captors. A colleague confirmed the news, expressing relief at his safe return but withholding further details about the circumstances of his release. The kidnapping had heightened fears about security in the region, with residents calling for increased measures to protect citizens.
The release of Mr Eleyinmi has brought a sense of relief to the university community and his family.
