Okojie Urges New NNPCL Leadership To Champion National Interest And Industry Growth.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum (Midstream), Hon. Odianosen Okojie, has called on the newly appointed Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Engr. Bayo Ojulari, and his management team to usher in a new era of excellence and innovation in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Okojie congratulated the new NNPCL leadership and emphasised the need to prioritise national interest in all operational and strategic decisions. He expressed confidence in the capabilities of Ojulari and his team, noting that their extensive experience across critical segments of the industry value chain positions them well to steer the sector towards sustainable progress.
“It is our expectation that you will walk your talk by improving on crude oil production to an enviable height, given the revenue shortages experienced by successive governments over the years,” Okojie stated.
The lawmaker, who represents Esan North East/Esan South East Federal Constituency of Edo State, stressed the vital role of the oil sector in the Nigerian economy. He urged the new leadership to spare no effort in ensuring that the industry operates at full capacity, given its pivotal role as the cornerstone of national revenue.
Okojie also took the opportunity to commend the outgoing leadership led by Mele Kyari for their contributions to the sector. He highlighted key achievements under Kyari’s tenure, including the enactment of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), the resuscitation of the Port Harcourt Refinery, and improved security of the nation’s oil and gas infrastructure.
President Bola Tinubu earlier this week announced the appointment of Engr. Bayo Ojulari as the new Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL, succeeding Mele Kyari. The leadership change is expected to mark a new chapter for the company and the broader petroleum industry in Nigeria.
Okojie concluded his message with a note of optimism, saying, “I wish you and your team success as you settle down to business in the weeks ahead.”
