Daniel Bwala has suggested that the meeting between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and First Lady Remi Tinubu will cause distress to Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate
On Monday, Obasanjo paid a Sallah homage visit to Remi Tinubu, wife of President Bola Tinubu. This meeting follows a recent incident where Obasanjo was seen wearing a cap bearing Tinubu’s insignia.
The encounter has raised eyebrows, given that Obasanjo and President Tinubu belong to different political camps, despite both hailing from the Southwest. During the 2023 presidential election, Obasanjo had publicly supported Obi, even after Tinubu and some Afenifere leaders sought his backing.
Commenting on the meeting, Bwala took to social media platform X, stating, “This picture would give sleepless night to Mr P alias ‘Greengory.’ @PeterObi.” He further claimed that several prominent Pentecostal bishops have withdrawn their support from Obi.
Bwala added, “I personally know of three prominent Pentecostal Bishops that have also abandoned him and his ‘take back your country hate speech’.” He also predicted that Pat Utomi, a key Obi supporter, would soon distance himself from the former Labour Party candidate.
This development adds another layer to the complex political landscape following the 2023 Nigerian presidential election, potentially signaling shifts in alliances and support bases.
