Former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has reiterated his support for Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, urging him to maintain his dancing spirit while prioritizing the need for infrastructure projects in the state.
Obasanjo’s remarks came during the inauguration ceremony of a VIP lodge located within the premises of Osun State Government House in Osogbo. Reflecting on a previous conversation with Adeleke, Obasanjo stressed the importance of not only continuing to dance but also working diligently to enhance the lives of the state’s residents.
In a blend of Yoruba and English, Obasanjo expressed, “Some people once despised you, calling you a mere dancer. In reply, I told them that it is only happy people that used to dance. From now on, you are my dancing partner.”
Acknowledging Adeleke’s efforts, Obasanjo commended the governor’s initiative in uniting the Peoples Democratic Party in the state and implementing impactful projects for the betterment of the populace. He urged Adeleke to ensure proper documentation of his achievements as governor and to maintain honesty and integrity in his service.
In his response, Adeleke stated his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, citing the completion of several major capital projects and the ongoing progress of others outlined in his infrastructure plan. He emphasized the significance of the newly inaugurated VIP Lodge in reducing the cost of hosting dignitaries visiting the state, marking a significant milestone in cost efficiency.
Adeleke, popularly known as the “dancing governor,” assumed office as the 6th elected governor of Osun State on November 27, 2022, following the political legacy of his late elder brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, the state’s first elected governor.
