The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has extended the service year of 40 corps members from the NYSC Batch B Stream II in Osun State for various infractions.
This announcement was made by the NYSC State Coordinator, Agbor Ndoma Obim, during the passing out parade held on Thursday.
Out of the 3,014 corps members who successfully completed their service, 23 were reported to have absconded.
Obim commended the corps members for their good conduct and discipline throughout the service year. He encouraged them to be good ambassadors and to utilise the skills acquired through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training to become self-reliant.
“Leverage the skills and various training you acquired during your service year to be self-reliant,” Obim urged.
He also advised the corps members to remain security conscious and to avoid night travel, as the scheme strictly discourages it. Obim emphasised the importance of corps members still in service taking their responsibilities seriously and prioritising their safety by familiarising themselves with the security pamphlet provided by the NYSC.
“The safety of corps members is a top priority for the NYSC,” he concluded.
