The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation for 11 new academic programmes at Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Kogi State.
In a statement signed by the Registrar of CUSTECH, Olufunke Hudson, the newly accredited programmes include Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Mathematics, and Statistics. The list also features Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, and Information Technology.
The Vice-Chancellor of CUSTECH, Prof. Abdulrahman Salawu, expressed his delight over this achievement, emphasizing the hard work and dedication of both staff and students. “We are delighted to have obtained full accreditation for all programmes tendered for evaluation, which serves as evidence of the commitment and effort put forth by our staff and students.
This achievement demonstrates our steadfast dedication to delivering a high-quality education that equips our students for prosperous futures,” Salawu stated.
Looking ahead, Prof. Salawu revealed that the university has already submitted applications to the NUC for the establishment of six additional programmes, primarily in Medical Sciences, to be introduced in the 2024/2025 academic session.
These include Medicine, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Law, Agriculture, and Agricultural Engineering. He also mentioned that the proposed teaching hospital facility for clinical training is now operational.
Registrar Olufunke Hudson stated the accreditation success as a testament to the institution’s unwavering dedication to providing top-tier education. Additionally, she announced that the NUC has approved the establishment of eight more programmes.
These new programmes include Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Marine Engineering, Petroleum and Gas Engineering, Anatomy, Physiology, Nursing Science, and Medical Laboratory Science.
These courses are now available for prospective candidates on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Central Admissions Processing System.
