The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has ramped up security measures in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
Dr. Olusola Odumosu, the FCT Commandant of NSCDC, announced the deployment of 5,112 personnel to ensure the safety of residents and visitors during the festive period.
The deployment spans across all six area councils, the city centre, and other critical locations vulnerable to criminal activities. According to the command’s spokesperson, Samuel Idoko, the NSCDC is committed to safeguarding lives and property, as well as protecting critical national assets in the FCT.
To enhance security operations, specialised units such as the Armed Squad, Intelligence Operatives, Counter Terrorism Unit, Female Strike Force, Special Crack Squad (operation Adaka-su), and Agro Rangers have been mobilised. These units will collaborate closely with other security agencies to provide comprehensive security coverage at prayer grounds, motor parks, recreational centres, and other public venues throughout the Eid festivities.
“You are to ensure 24-hour protection of all these infrastructures and the holidaymakers in the city. We must show commitment in the discharge of our duties as law enforcers. However, there is no room for carelessness or overzealousness while carrying out your duties and the operational order must be followed to ensure professionalism on your part,” Dr. Odumosu stated.
