Rangers united mights end Rivers United Title hopes says Maikaba
Rangers Head coach, Abdu Maikaba is confident his side can claim maximum points when they face table toppers, Rivers United in a Nigeria Professional Football League matchday 34 encounter in Awka, on Sunday.
The Flying Antelopes are aiming to secure third position in the NPFL and secure a place in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
With the likes of Enyimba, Remo Stars, Kwara United, Akwa United and Sunshine Stars on their trail, Rangers cannot afford a negative result against the Port Harcourt club.
Maikaba is positive his team can get the job done despite the enormity of the task before them.
“Naturally, this is a top-of-the-table encounter and my players have shown that threat and determination to return to winning ways after some not too impressive results from our last two fixtures.
“With what was on display in our last training, I am positive going into the match with Rivers United and I believe that we shall get the result we work for at the end of the match,” Maikaba told the club’s media.
“We are not unmindful of what Rivers United is bringing for this encounter, the best-attacking side, the best defensive side with one of the leading scorers of the season and we respect them for all that but by no means intimidated.
“We will play our normal game with a firm belief that we can get the result that we need at the end of the day. Our target is the maximum points and by God’s grace, we shall get it at the end of the match,” he added.
Rivers United defeated Rangers 1-0 when both teams clashed earlier in the season in Port Harcourt.
