NPFL Excludes Beyond Limits Football Academy From 2024/2025 Season Over Conflict Of Interest Concerns.
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has ruled that Beyond Limits Football Academy will not participate in the 2024/2025 season due to concerns over conflicting interests, according to reports from BSNSports.
The decision stems from the fact that Beyond Limits Football Academy and Remo Stars, an existing NPFL club, share the same ownership. This situation violates Rule B11.4 of the NPFL Framework and Rules, which prohibits the same ownership of multiple clubs in the league.
As a result, the slot previously held by Beyond Limits Football Academy has been forfeited and reassigned to Heartland FC. This decision aligns with Rule A5.2, which outlines the criteria for club participation in the league. Heartland FC, having met the requirements set by the NPFL board, was the only relegated club to express interest in filling the vacancy.
The NPFL also clarified that there was no slot-buying involved in the decision, as such practices are explicitly prohibited under league rules. The league remains committed to maintaining a fair and competitive environment, ensuring that all actions are consistent with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
While the NPFL rules may not cover every possible scenario, the board has exercised its discretion, as allowed under the league’s governing documents, to make decisions that are in the best interest of the competition and its stakeholders. The NPFL continues to uphold its commitment to fairness and the integrity of the league.
