Enugu Rangers Clinch 8th NPFL Title, Set to Receive #150 Million.
Enugu Rangers have triumphed in the 2023/2024 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, securing their eighth league title with a game to spare. This victory marks their first NPFL championship since 2016.
The Flying Antelopes sealed their title win with a 2-0 victory over Bendel Insurance on Sunday evening at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu. Kenechukwu Agwu opened the scoring with a stunning free-kick in the 33rd minute, followed by a goal from Chidiebere Nwobodo in the 65th minute.
With this win, Enugu Rangers have accumulated 67 points, establishing a five-point lead over second-placed Remo Stars with just one game remaining in the season. This accomplishment also marks the first league title for coach Fidelis Ilechukwu, who previously finished second with Plateau United and MFM FC.
In addition to their league triumph, Enugu Rangers have earned a spot in the CAF Champions League for next season and will receive N150 million from the NPFL organisers.
This latest title adds to the storied history of Enugu Rangers and reinforces their position as one of Nigeria’s premier top football clubs.
