Renowned Nollywood actress, Ufuoma McDermott, has opened up about her decade-long struggle with stage four kidney disease in a heartfelt interview on the WithChude podcast.

Diagnosed with stage three kidney disease initially, Ufuoma’s condition escalated to stage four due to her inability to follow her doctors’ advice. Last year, her health took a dire turn, leaving her fearing the worst.

“I thought I was going to die,” the 43-year-old actress emotionally recalled. “My weight is crucial; gaining weight jeopardizes my health. As a mother of young children, I want to live.”

Ufuoma shared her intense negotiations with her doctor, who stressed the importance of rest. “My doctor said, ‘Ufuoma, prioritize sleep, take your medication, and let your blood pressure drop.'” Despite this, Ufuoma returned to work on set shortly after.
