Enugu Selected as Host City for NNL Super 8 Championship
The Nigeria National League (NNL) board has officially announced Enugu as the host city for this year’s highly anticipated Super 8 championship. Scheduled to take place from May 23 to May 30, 2024, the event promises to showcase the best talents in Nigerian football.
Chairman of the NNL, Mr. George Aluo, revealed the exciting news on Monday, expressing delight that Enugu, known as the home of football, will have the honor of hosting the prestigious Super 8 tournament. He extended gratitude to Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, and Commissioner For Youths and Sports, Barr. Lloyd Ekwerenmadu, for their enthusiastic acceptance to host the championship.
Aluo highlighted the commitment of the Enugu State Government, assuring that all necessary logistics for a successful and memorable competition will be promptly put in place before the tournament kicks off.
“We are thrilled to announce that the Super 8 championship will be held in Enugu, the heart of Nigerian football. We deeply appreciate the Governor and Commissioner of Sports for their generous support, and we assure all participating teams of top-notch hospitality, characteristic of the Coal City. The Governor has pledged full logistical support to ensure a seamless and successful championship,” stated Aluo.
The Super 8 tournament is a highly anticipated event that determines the overall champion of the second-tier NNL, as well as the teams that will earn promotion to the elite league. Among the teams already qualified for the championship are Nasarawa Utd, Sporting Supreme of Abuja, and Sokoto Utd, promising an exciting and fiercely competitive showdown.
