Super Eagles Ramp Up Preparations for Crucial World Cup Qualifiers.
The Nigerian Super Eagles continue their rigorous preparations for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic, with fifteen players participating in an intensive training session on Monday morning at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium’s training pitch.
The session, which lasted two hours, included fitness drills, shooting exercises, and tactical training. Head coach Finidi George, along with his assistants, led the comprehensive session, stepping up preparations for Friday’s crucial match against South Africa.
Despite the robust training, eight more players are yet to join the squad. Maduka Okoye, Semi Ajayi, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Calvin Bassey, Frank Onyeka, Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman, and Paul Onuachu are expected to join soon. According to Promise Efoghe, the team’s new media officer, these players are currently in the country but have been delayed due to the ongoing Nigeria Labour Congress strike, which has affected domestic flights.
To ensure optimal performance, the players will be given some time to rest and undergo a recovery session on Monday evening, with no further training scheduled for that period.
The Super Eagles are gearing up for a critical phase in their World Cup qualifying campaign and are determined to secure favorable results in their matches against South Africa and Benin Republic.
