Tuesday’s forecast indicates a continuation of unsettled weather. In the northern region, morning thunderstorms with rain are expected in Taraba, Jigawa, Kebbi, Kano, Katsina, and Kaduna. In the southern region, cloudy skies are expected in the morning, with isolated rain showers spreading across the entire region by the afternoon and evening.
NiMet has advised the public to take precautions due to the potential for strong winds preceding thunderstorms, which could pose risks such as falling branches or loose objects. Residents are urged to secure loose items, avoid driving during heavy rain, disconnect electrical appliances, and steer clear of tall trees. The agency also recommended that airline operators obtain airport-specific weather reports to ensure safe operations. NiMet emphasized the importance of staying informed through regular weather updates, which can be accessed via their official channels.
This forecast comes as Nigeria continues to experience its rainy season, which typically runs from April to October in most regions. The agency’s proactive alerts aim to help residents and authorities prepare for potential disruptions, including flash flooding and localized hazards, ensuring safety and minimizing damage during this period of intense weather activity.
